Lacoste could be described as a high-end sport clothing company. Some people may refer to this brand of clothes as a preppie (schoolgirl or schoolboy) label. Others would prefer to think of the Lacoste brand as a classic label.

This company still produces the original polo-collared shirts that were quite popular in the 1970s and 1980s. These shirts were also popular for awhile in the late 1980s/early1990s and for a short time these shirts were worn with the collar sticking up in some locations.

The polo-style shirt that Lacoste is most noted for comes in a variety of different colors. Some of these are bright while others are more of a pastel shade. These shirts also still come in neutral earth tones as well.

These polo shirts usually come in short sleeves. However, they are also being made more often in long sleeve styles, which is ideal for winter wear. A similar style of shirt called the Rugby shirt is also produced by this particular label.

Beyond The Polo Collared Shirt

Lacoste is a large company that sells more than just polo shirts. For instance, they sell knee-length loosing-fitting shorts of bright and dark contrasting colors. Other styles of shorts are made with complimentary colors.

Most of the shorts described above are made from a combination of cotton and polyamide materials. This results in a nylon-like look. These shorts typically have “Lacoste” printed in large letters on at least one side.

This particular company also makes its own version of the classic V-neck style sweater. These sweaters as well as most of Lacoste shirts are all made from cotton fabrics.

This company is also noted for its special type of processed cotton material invented by Lacoste himself. This was the type of material that was used in the making of the original Lacoste polo styled shirts.

Lacoste Accessories

A number of accessories were created by the Lacoste Company as well. For instance, this company has produced quite a few different styles of handbags, sunglasses, and watches. Additionally, this company has produced perfume fragrances.


The Lacoste Logo

Most everyone knows Lacoste by the green alligator logo that is usually printed on the front of garments produced by this company (or on the garment tag). Another brand name that is associated with the Lacoste name is called Izod.

Lacoste Today

This company today gives licenses to various companies and allows them to use its trademark. Additionally, this company still produces some of the same classic styles of tennis shirts that it became famous for.

This company is currently headquartered in Paris. However, the Lacoste label is recognized throughout the world-especially after the rise of the use of the Internet for communication.
