The Marc Jacobs brand is so named after the creator, who is an American Fashion designer. Marc Jacobs graduated from the High School of Art Design in 1981 and from that time on had began to make his mark in the high fashion world after attending a school called Parsons School of Design.
Just three years later (1984), Mr. Jacobs had won a very prestigious award called the Perry Ellis Gold Thimble Award. He was still attending Parsons at the time he had received this honor. He also had received two other awards the same year-one of which was the Design Student of the Year Award.

The first assignment that Mr. Jacobs had was to design a line of hand knit sweaters. He sold them for a man named Reuben Thomas for the Scetchbook label.
Later on in Marc Jacobs Career
Jacobs then formed a partnership with Robert Duffy. This company is still in existence today and is known as Jacobs Duffy Designs, Inc. He then created the first line of clothing bearing the Marcs Jacobs label.
After reaching a low point while working for Perry Ellis, he made a comeback and is now currently employed as an artistic director for one of the most distinguished fashion names in history, Louis Vuitton.

Some of the accessories that Marc Jacobs is noted for creating while working for the Louis Vuitton Company include the line of Stephen Sprouses graffiti bags and the Takashi Murakami line of pastel colored accessories. This particular label also has created quite a variety of other bags such as the Hudson, Stam or Quilted Venetia Bag.
