Valentino Design History

Valentino’s career is believes to have really started as he founded his first studio in Rome. This took place in the year 1959. In the following year, Valentino then joined with Giancarlo Giammetti, who manages the development of the House of Valentino.

The Valentino Success Story

One of the first of Valentino’s monumental successes was when he created his first collection of clothes called Gotha. This particular line of clothing was displayed in Florence in 1962.

Just a few years later (in 1965) Valentino receives an award. During this year he is known as the top name in Italian Haute Couture (high fashion).

A couple of years after he has received his first prestigious award he is given the Neiman Marcus Prize. This is considered one of the highest honors that a fashion designer can receive.

In 1968, Valentino established even greater success as he creates lines of clothing-some of which worn by Jacqueline Kennedy who married Aristotle Onassis. Then, just a year later he opened the first of his Valentino shops in Milan.

In the early to mid 1970s Valentino continued to expand his couture. He launches a Ready-to-Wear clothing campaign in Rome, Paris, and New York, which leads to the opening of Valentino boutiques.

In the 1970s Valentino also opens a menswear shop in Via Condotti. During this decade he also opens another shop in Tokyo and introduces a new perfume to the public.

In the 1984 Valentino celebrates 25 years in business and receives another reward from the Minister for Industry and then from the President of Italy a year later (1985).

Throughout the 1990s Valentino continues to shine and creates even more accessories. He then launches V perfume in the early portion of the 21st century. Just this past year, he has opened a boutique in Bangkok, which is home of one of the world’s favorite shopping districts.
